Oliver Bantle was born in 1962. He studied social pedagogy and worked for many years as a journalist at the German national newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung – mainly in the Science and Politics departments.

He designed and launched Süddeutsche.de – the online edition of the quality newspaper – and was director of the Politics and Current Events department. He is currently working as an author in Germany.
